Convert mBank statements to Excel

mBank lets you export 5 years of history as PDF, HTML or CSV, but it calls the operation list non-accounting data: the statement (wyciąg) is the official record. Upload mBank statements here as PDF or CSV and get a balance-checked Excel or CSV file.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Get the statement

Use the e-statement mBank e-mails you, or in the transaction service open Finanse → Historia → Zestawienie operacji (finance → history → operation statement) and download it as PDF or CSV.

  2. 2

    Upload it

Drop in one file or a whole year. CSV files use no pages. If the e-mail holds a Secure PDF, save the statement attached inside it first (see below).

  3. 3

    Check the balance

Opening balance + credits − debits must equal the closing balance. Rows that don't add up are flagged with their page number.

  4. 4

    Export

Download Excel, a CSV with semicolons and DD.MM.YYYY dates, or a QuickBooks, Xero, OFX or QIF file.

How to download mBank history and statements

The mBank transaction service (serwis transakcyjny) offers three different downloads. mBank's history FAQ explains the difference:

  • Lista operacji (operation list): Finanse → Historia → Lista operacji. Filter or search, then click eksportuj listę (export list) and choose PDF, HTML or CSV. mBank says this file contains data of a non-accounting nature (dane o charakterze nie księgowym).
  • Zestawienie operacji (operation statement): Finanse → Historia → Zestawienie operacji. Pick the account, operation type and date range. Operations are listed in booking order, with values similar to a bank statement, as PDF, HTML or CSV.
  • Wyciągi (e-statements): sent to the e-mail address registered with the bank, in the format you chose: PDF, CSV or HTML.

The transaction service shows the last 5 years of history. For anything older, mBank points you to the free Zestawienie operacji.

Which formats mBank offers (and how far back)

Choose CSV over HTML when mBank gives you the option. MT940 is a paid business service: mBank's business pages list a monthly fee of 50 zł per account (October 2026). If you already receive MT940 files, see MT940 to Excel.

Operation list or statement: which one to convert?

For bookkeeping, taxes or a mortgage application, use a statement or the Zestawienie operacji, not the operation list. mBank labels the list non-accounting data. Its history also shows card payments that are still blocked (blokady) and not yet settled, and mBank notes these carry no balance. They can change amount or disappear when they settle, so a list exported mid-month may never match your statement.

Statements list booked operations with an opening and closing balance, which is what our balance check needs: opening balance + money in − money out must equal the closing balance, and the running balance must agree on every row where it's printed. If they don't, the rows to look at are flagged with their page number.

Encrypted Secure PDF statements

If you switched on encrypted statements under Panel ustawień → Bezpieczeństwo → Wyciągi szyfrowane (settings panel → security → encrypted statements), each e-mail carries a single Secure PDF. It's locked with a password you set, and your actual statements are attachments inside it, as mBank describes. To convert one:

  1. Open the Secure PDF in a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader and enter the password that was valid when the statement was generated. If you've changed it since, earlier passwords are listed on the same settings screen after an SMS confirmation.
  2. Open the attachments panel (the paperclip icon) and save the statement file inside: PDF, CSV or HTML, depending on the format you chose.
  3. Upload that file. If it still asks for a password, enter it when uploading. The password is used once and never stored.

mBank statement quirks

  • Polish number format. Amounts use a comma for decimals and a space (or nothing) between thousands: 1 234,56. Our Excel export turns them into real numbers.
  • Dates appear as DD.MM.YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. You pick the date format of your export.
  • Several accounts in one statement. mBank's statement covers the balance and transactions of the accounts held within your konto, such as a main account plus a savings or currency account. With us, each account becomes its own statement and is balance-checked separately.
  • CSV encoding. Polish bank CSVs often use the Windows Central European code page. If letters like ą, ł or ś look wrong after upload, open the CSV in Excel through Data → From Text/CSV with file origin 1250: Central European (Windows), save it as CSV UTF-8 and upload that copy.

Convert mBank statements to Excel, CSV or accounting software

Every transaction gets a clean payee name and a category, and any correction can become a rule for future statements. Then export:

  • Excel with real dates and numbers, plus a Summary sheet by category and month
  • CSV with semicolons and DD.MM.YYYY dates, the regional format Polish Excel opens cleanly
  • QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV, a .qbo file, OFX or QIF
  • One combined file for several months or accounts, optionally limited to a date range

Questions

Can I export mBank history to CSV or Excel?

Yes, as CSV: use Finanse → Historia → Lista operacji → eksportuj listę, or Zestawienie operacji for booked operations, both covering the last 5 years. Upload the CSV here to get categories and an Excel file; it uses no pages.

How do I convert an encrypted mBank PDF statement?

Open the Secure PDF with the password that was valid when it was generated, save the statement attached inside it, and upload that file. If it's still password-protected, enter the password at upload. It's used once and never stored.

Why doesn't my mBank operation list match my statement?

The list can include card payments that are blocked but not yet settled, and mBank calls it non-accounting data. Convert the statement or the Zestawienie operacji instead: they list booked operations with balances.

How do I get mBank transactions older than 5 years?

mBank points to the free Zestawienie operacji for transactions older than 5 years. Older PDF statements you've saved can be uploaded too, several years at once.

What does converting mBank statements cost?

CSV and MT940 files use no pages. PDFs are counted per page with transactions: 100 pages cost $12 and never expire. You see the transaction count and balance check before paying. See pricing.
