Convert Bank of America statements to Excel or QuickBooks

Quicken announced that Bank of America discontinued its OFX services on September 30, 2025, so QFX (Web Connect) downloads no longer work and a CSV is what's left for recent activity. Upload your Bank of America PDF statements here and get Excel, CSV, a QuickBooks Online CSV, a .qbo file or QIF — with every statement checked against its beginning and ending balance.

Bank of America QFX downloads stopped working

For years, Bank of America customers who didn't use a direct connection downloaded a Web Connect file and imported it into Quicken or QuickBooks. In its announcement, Quicken says Bank of America discontinued all OFX services on September 30, 2025, so Direct Connect and Web Connect (QFX files) are no longer available, and suggests importing a CSV instead. Bank of America hasn't published its own notice.

QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) files are built on the same OFX format, so if your QBO download stopped at the same time, this is the likely reason. A converted PDF gives you back the file you used to get: a .qbo for QuickBooks Desktop, a QuickBooks Online CSV, or QIF for Quicken.

What Bank of America still lets you download

Bank of America's own pages give different figures for how many statements are online at once — its statement instructions say six years, a digital banking FAQ says 18 months. Whatever you can't see can be requested back to seven years.

How a Bank of America statement is laid out

A Bank of America checking statement opens with an account summary — beginning balance, deposits and other additions, withdrawals and other subtractions, checks, service fees and ending balance — and then lists transactions in those same sections. Withdrawals are printed as negative amounts and debit card purchases are grouped per card. There's no balance next to each transaction; a daily ledger balances table at the end shows the balance for each day instead.

Because transactions are split across sections, a statement copied by hand ends up out of order. The conversion merges all sections into one list sorted by date, keeps the sign of every amount, and checks that the beginning balance plus everything in, minus everything out, lands exactly on the ending balance. If one statement covers several linked accounts, each account becomes its own statement in the export.

Getting older Bank of America statements

Lenders, auditors and accountants sometimes need more history than you can see online. In Online Banking, go to Statements & Documents under the Accounts tab and choose Request statements: Bank of America says online copies of statements up to seven years old are free, ready in 24–36 hours and available for seven days, so download them as soon as they appear (details). Paper copies can be ordered too, and a fee may apply to mailed statements.

Once you have the PDFs, convert the whole set in one go and export a single date-ordered Excel file, optionally limited to a date range. The Summary sheet totals each month and category — see bank statement to Excel.

Bank of America credit card statements

Card statements are under the card's Statements & Documents tab. They list payments and other credits, purchases and adjustments, fees and interest, each with a transaction date and a posting date, with credits shown as negative amounts. Business card accounts can also use the Download link on the Activity tab with a custom date range. Converting a year of card statements gives you every purchase with a clean merchant name and a category — see credit card statement to Excel.

Getting Bank of America transactions into QuickBooks or Quicken

  • QuickBooks Desktop: export a .qbo Web Connect file from the converted statements and import it the way you used to import Bank of America's own download.
  • QuickBooks Online: export the QuickBooks Online CSV — Date, Description and Amount — and upload it to the bank account. Importing bank statements into QuickBooks Online walks through the upload screen.
  • Quicken: export QIF; other personal finance apps usually take OFX. See bank statement to QIF.
